Delete your Align account
Align is the marriage app from Align Matchmaking Ltd. You can delete your account permanently at any time, from inside the app, and it cannot be undone. If you no longer have the app, write to us and we will delete it for you.
In the app
Three steps, the same on Android and iPhone.
-
1
Open Account Settings
Tap Settings at the bottom of the screen, then Account Settings.
-
2
Tap Delete account
Scroll to the end, to Account actions, and tap Delete account.
-
3
Confirm
The app tells you what goes and when. Tap Delete Permanently and you are signed out straight away.
Joined only to book counselling? Tap Settings, then Delete this account, and confirm.
Without the app
Email support@align-app.co.uk from the address your account uses and ask us to delete it. We delete it in the same way the app does and write back when it is done. We can only act on a request we can match to an account, so please write from that address. You can also use the form on our contact page and choose My data.
What is deleted, and what is kept
Straight away
- Every photograph you uploaded, removed from storage.
- Your name, email address, phone number and password.
- Your date of birth, city, country, occupation, education, bio, hobbies and languages.
- Your answers to the assessment.
- Your wali's name, email address and phone number, and his sign-in links.
- Your notifications, your check-in answers and your phone's registration for notifications.
- Your membership of any community, so no centre can see your profile.
Every conversation you are in is closed, and you are signed out on every device.
After 30 days
- The account itself, with the rest of your profile: your persona, your location, your preferences and your other answers about yourself.
- Your matches, and every message you sent.
- A centre's record of verifying you.
- Bookings you made with a centre, for verification, a meeting or a nikah.
- Your conversations with our support team.
Our database backups are kept for 30 days, so each of these leaves the backups 30 days after it is deleted.
What we keep
- A record of each payment: the amount, the date and what it was for. It carries no name, after 30 days nothing links it to you, and we keep it because the law requires us to keep our accounts.
- If you booked counselling, the centre's record of the appointment, under the name and email address it was booked with.
- What a wali and a brother wrote to each other through the guardian portal, the requests behind those conversations and any request for a verification report, with the wali's email address.
- Feedback you sent us about the app.
- A log of the emails we sent you, with the address, the subject and the date, for up to a year.
- If we delete the account for you, a note in our records that we did, with the email address it used.
