1. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding contract to use Align. You must not use Align if you are barred from doing so under any applicable law, or if you have previously been removed from the platform.

You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information in your profile and assessment, and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including keeping your password confidential. Accounts are personal. You may not sell, share or transfer your account to anyone else.

2. What Align is, and what it is not

Align is an introduction platform. We provide software that helps members describe themselves, surfaces other members who may be compatible, and provides tools for communicating and for involving family or a community centre in the process.

Align is not a marriage broker, matchmaking agency, counselling service, or religious authority. We do not arrange marriages, act as an intermediary in any marriage contract, provide religious rulings, or offer legal, financial, medical or psychological advice. Nothing on the platform should be relied upon as any of those things.

We do not guarantee that you will find a partner, receive matches, receive a reply, or achieve any particular outcome. The presence of another member on the platform is not a representation by us about that person.

3. Community verification: meaning and limits

Verification is not endorsement. A verification badge means only that a participating community centre recorded that it carried out its own process in respect of that member at a point in time. It is not a recommendation, an endorsement, a character reference, a guarantee of honesty or suitability, and it is not a statement that the member is a good or safe match for you or for anyone else.

Some members display a verification badge issued through a participating community centre. You should understand all of the following about what that badge does and does not mean:

You remain solely responsible for forming your own judgement about any member, and for making your own enquiries before placing trust in them, sharing personal information with them, meeting them, or entering into any commitment with them. You should treat a verification badge as one small input into that judgement and never as a substitute for it.

Neither Align nor any Community Partner warrants the accuracy, completeness, or ongoing validity of any verification, endorsement, trait tag, or reference recorded through the platform, and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, both Align and all Community Partners accept no liability whatsoever arising from your reliance on one.

4. No background checks or vetting

Align does not conduct criminal background checks, identity verification, or any other screening of members, except where a specific check is expressly described on the platform. We do not verify that a member is who they say they are, that they are single or free to marry, or that any statement in their profile is true.

Automated and manual moderation tools exist to help us respond to reported behaviour. They are a best-effort safety measure, not a screening guarantee. Some content may not be reviewed before other members see it.

You accept that other members may misrepresent themselves and that Align cannot prevent this. Take the same precautions you would with any stranger.

5. Compatibility scores and personality reports

Align generates compatibility scores, persona descriptions and personality reports from the answers you provide. These are produced by an automated model for informational and entertainment purposes. They are not a psychological assessment, clinical diagnosis, or professional advice of any kind, they are not carried out or reviewed by a qualified practitioner, and they carry no predictive guarantee about any relationship.

Do not rely on a compatibility score when making significant life decisions. A high score does not mean a relationship will succeed; a low score does not mean it would fail.

6. Member conduct

You agree not to:

We may screen, remove or restrict content and accounts to protect members, at our discretion.

7. Your safety and meeting other members

Any interaction with another member, online or in person, is at your own risk. Align is not present at, and takes no responsibility for, meetings arranged through the platform.

We strongly recommend that you meet for the first time in a public place or at a participating community centre, that you tell a family member or your wali where you are going, and that you do not share financial information, home address, or identity documents with someone you have not met.

Align does not supervise, chaperone or attend meetings, including meetings booked through a community centre. You are responsible for your own safety and for your own conduct.

If you believe you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Report concerning behaviour to us at support@align-app.co.uk and through the in-app reporting tools.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the photographs, text and other content you upload. You grant Align a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt and display that content solely to operate and provide the service to you and to the members you are matched with. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we are required to retain by law or that have already been shared with other members.

You confirm you have the right to upload everything you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

9. Participating Mosques, Community Centres, and Community Partners (Safe Harbour & Liability Shield)

Participating mosques, masajid, Islamic centres, community organisations, charities, and religious institutions, along with their respective trustees, directors, imams, scholars, committee members, chaplains, staff, and volunteers (collectively, "Community Partners") are independent third parties. They are not employees, agents, partners, joint venturers, or legal representatives of Align, and Align does not act as an agent or representative for any Community Partner. Align does not control, supervise, manage, or direct their religious guidance, premises, staff, committees, or independent decisions.

Complete Legal Safe Harbour for Mosques & Imams. When an Imam, mosque official, or Community Partner conducts a verification, records an endorsement, hosts an introduction, provides a meeting room, or offers spiritual guidance, they do so solely as an unpaid or voluntary religious and communal accommodation for their congregation. Community Partners are NOT marriage brokers, legal guarantors, background investigators, or character insurers, and they assume zero legal liability for any member's identity, integrity, conduct, or marital outcome.

You expressly acknowledge, agree, and covenant to all of the following:

10. Guardian (wali) features

Align provides optional features allowing a member to involve a guardian (wali) in her process. These features operate only with the member's explicit, revocable consent, and expose only the limited information described in the app at the time consent is given.

Align does not verify the identity or the relationship of any person nominated as a guardian, and does not adjudicate family disputes. A member may withdraw guardian access at any time. Align is not responsible for how a guardian uses information properly disclosed to them, nor for any family or personal consequence arising from the use or non-use of these features.

11. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Some features require a paid subscription. Where you purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the purchase is governed by that store's terms and is charged to your store account. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

You manage and cancel a store subscription in your Apple or Google account settings, not in Align, and we cannot cancel it for you. Where you purchase directly by card, you may cancel from your account settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Except where a refund is required by law or by the applicable store's policy, payments are non-refundable and there is no refund for a partly used period. Prices may change; we will give notice before a change affects a renewal.

12. Suspension and termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently erases your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, if your conduct puts another member or the platform at risk, or if we are required to do so by law. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why.

Sections 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 13 to 21 survive termination.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that defects will be corrected, that any match will be suitable, or that any information provided by another member or a community centre is accurate.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Align, its officers, employees, suppliers, and all Community Partners (including participating mosques, Islamic centres, imams, trustees, committee members, and volunteers) will not be liable for:

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £100.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these Terms do not affect.

15. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Align and all participating Mosques, Islamic Centres, Imams, Community Partners, and their respective trustees, directors, committee members, officers, employees, and volunteers from and against any claim, demand, action, loss, liability, damage, settlement, or reasonable cost (including legal fees and litigation expenses) arising out of or in connection with:

16. Assumption of risk and release

You understand and expressly agree that your use of Align, including communicating with other members, disclosing information about yourself, travelling to and attending any meeting (whether on mosque premises or elsewhere), and forming any relationship, is undertaken entirely at your own risk.

You acknowledge that neither Align nor any Community Partner has the ability to confirm that any member is who they claim to be, is free to marry, is of good character, or is safe to meet; that people may misrepresent themselves; and that no verification, badge, report, or score offered on the platform reduces or removes your own responsibility to exercise judgement and caution.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you expressly and unconditionally release, acquit, and forever discharge Align and all participating Mosques, Islamic Centres, Imams, Community Partners, and their respective trustees, officers, employees, and volunteers from all claims, demands, liabilities, causes of action, losses, and damages of every kind, known and unknown, suspected and unsuspected, arising out of or in any way connected with a dispute between you and another member, a community centre, an imam, or any other third party, whether that dispute arises online or in person. If you are a consumer, this release does not affect rights you have under mandatory law, and nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for our fraud.

17. Intellectual property and takedown

The Align name, logo, software, design, compatibility model, persona system and all associated content are owned by Align Matchmaking Ltd or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. Except for the limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended personal purpose, no rights are granted to you.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, decompile or create derivative works from any part of the platform, nor use it to build a competing product, nor extract data from it by scraping or automated means.

Reporting infringement

If you believe content on Align infringes your copyright or other rights, email support@align-app.co.uk with: identification of the work, the location of the material on Align, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We will investigate and remove infringing material where appropriate, and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

18. Availability, changes and export

We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the platform, including any feature, at any time. We may impose limits on use or storage. We will give reasonable notice of a material change or discontinuation where practicable, but we do not guarantee that any feature will remain available.

The platform is not guaranteed to be available at all times. Maintenance, outages of third-party providers, and events outside our reasonable control (including network failure, fire, flood, industrial action, war, epidemic and government action) may interrupt it, and we are not liable for such interruptions.

You confirm that you are not located in, and are not a national of or ordinarily resident in, any country subject to comprehensive sanctions that would make your use of the platform unlawful, and that you are not on any restricted-parties list. You are responsible for complying with the laws of the country you use Align from.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

Before starting proceedings, please contact us at support@align-app.co.uk so we can try to resolve the matter informally.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the platform develops or the law changes. We will update the effective date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use Align after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not accept them, you should stop using the platform and may delete your account.

21. General

Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Align Matchmaking Ltd about the platform, and replace any earlier understanding.

Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, it is severed or narrowed to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder stays in force.

No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, on notice to you.

Third-Party Beneficiaries & Rights. All participating Mosques, Islamic Centres, Imams, and Community Partners (together with their trustees, committee members, officers, and staff) are express, intended third-party beneficiaries of Sections 3, 7, 9, 13, 14, 15, and 16 of these Terms, and are entitled under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 (and any corresponding common law or statutory doctrines in other jurisdictions) to enforce directly against any member all limitation of liability provisions, safe harbours, releases, waivers, and indemnities contained in these Terms. Except as expressly provided in this clause for Community Partners, nobody other than you and Align Matchmaking Ltd has a right to enforce these Terms.

Notices. We may give notice by email to the address on your account or by an in-app message; you should keep that address current.

Headings. Section headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
