How it works

The rules behind your introductions

So nothing later comes as a surprise. Every rule here is one the app keeps today.

Matching

An assessment, not a filter

You answer real situations rather than setting preferences. Align builds a picture of your temperament and your values from that, and shows it to you first.

Five introductions a day

Up to five at a time. Any you have not answered by midnight are replaced. Anyone you accept stays until they answer. A pass is not final until midnight either.

Nearby first

People near you come first, shown as a rough distance and never an exact place. Your city is confirmed from evidence, not typed in.

You set how far to look

Change your search area any time. Today's introductions stand. The new area applies tomorrow.

Photos

Private until you are introduced

A photo is a silhouette to anyone you are not matched with. It clears when an introduction is made between you.

A sister can go further

One switch keeps her photo blurred until she has accepted. His accept is not approval of anything.

Passing takes it back

If either of you passes, the photo goes back to a silhouette. Deleting your account removes every copy.

Talking

One conversation at a time

Starting one is a deliberate act, not a side effect of typing. It takes you both off the market until it ends. Anyone in a conversation elsewhere is replaced in your five.

Voice calls, inside Align

They open once the conversation has substance on both sides. If she routes calls through her wali, he reviews the request and approving it hands the decision back to her.

Numbers and links do not leave

The filter never relaxes. A number split across several messages is still a number.

Verification

A registered mosque or community centre confirms identity in person. Never us alone.

The centre interviews the candidate, speaks to referees and files a report. That report belongs to him. He shares it one introduction at a time, and can take it back. Referees' names and numbers are never shown outside the centre.

Align runs in your browser today. The iPhone and Android apps are in preparation.
